Additional Description:
Isopropyl-beta-D-thiogalactopyranoside (IPTG), molecular formula C9H18O5S, molecular weight 238.30, with a one-year shelf life. IPTG is an extremely potent, highly stable inducer that is not metabolized by bacteria, making it widely used in laboratories, typically to induce beta-galactosidase activity in cloning experiments. It is often paired with X-Gal or Bluo-Gal for blue-white screening of recombinant bacterial colonies expressing the lac operon in E. coli, working by binding the lacI repressor protein, altering its conformation and function to relieve repression of the lacZ gene. Store at 2-8°C; packed in 1 kg bags or as requested.
