Additional Description:
EDOT appears as a colorless to light-yellow liquid with a melting point of about -19.34C, a boiling point near 193C, and a molecular weight of 142.18. It serves as a monomer for synthesizing polythiophene and oligothiophene organic active materials, including organic conductive polymers and optoelectronic materials, most notably PEDOT (poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene)), originally developed by Bayer and now widely used in the electronics industry. Other uses include acting as a reducing agent in gold nanoparticle synthesis, as a starting material in palladium-catalyzed aromatic reactions, and in synthesizing coupling polymers and copolymers. Recommended storage is 2-8C, protected from light.
