Wellington Briques is the CEO of BioPharma Consulting, Regional Medical Director for Regeneron, Founder of Cannabis Academy, Coordinator of the Scientific Committee of the Brazilian Congress on Medical Cannabis, former Chief Medical Officer of Instituo Butantan and former Global Medical Officer of Canopy Growth. He has dedicated his career to the development of new molecules in areas such as medical cannabis, oncology, neurology, gynecology, vaccines, psychiatry, among others. Responsible for clinical studies from phase I to phase III, which supported the regulatory approval of several drugs, by regulatory agencies such as the FDA, EMEA and ANVISA. Graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of Ribeirão Preto – University of São Paulo, he completed a postgraduate course in Pharmaceutical Medicine at UNIFESP, Chinese Medicine at Inst. of Orthopedics and Traumatology at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of São Paulo, an MBA in People Management and another in Business Administration and Marketing from FGV-SP. In 2020 he received the Global Fellow in Medicine Development from the IFAPP International Federation of Pharmaceutical Physicians. In November 2022, he joined the team at The Quantic Hub, a company specialized in Precision Medicine, with several research and development fronts and also global partnerships. Briques is also a member of the Board of the Brazilian Society of Pharmaceutical Medicine (SBMF), of which he was President in the 2018 – 2019 and 2023 - 2025 biennium, representing the medical profession at important events in the sector. Author of several publications, the most important to date being the article published in the Journal of Cannabis Research in June 2021 on Dosage and Administration of Medicinal Cannabis in patients with chronic pain. Also Author of the book "Descomplicando a Prática Clínica da Cannabis Medicinal" ( Simplifying the clinical practice of medicinal cannabis. Current Coordinator of the Scientific Committee of the Brazilian COngress on Medical Cannabis. He is frequently invited to various national and international medical conferences to share his clinical experience with medicinal cannabis and as a scientist. In addition to these activities, he teaches a course for physicians on the inclusion of medical cannabis in clinical practice.
