Scott K. Griggs received his Pharm.D. (2000) as well as Ph.D. (2011) in Pharmacy Administration from the University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy. With twenty years of experience as a community pharmacist in both chain and independent/compounding pharmacies, Scott is currently licensed in both Texas and Missouri. He holds the rank of tenured Associate Professor in the Pharmaceutical and Administrative Sciences Department at the University of Health Sciences & Pharmacy in St. Louis (formerly the St. Louis College of Pharmacy). He is passionate about researching and developing courses that explore opportunities and innovation (via technology, data, and incentives) to improve the value (cost and outcomes) of healthcare and pharmacy for insurers, employers, patients, and providers. He currently coordinates and teaches three courses in the professional pharmacy program at UHSP/STLCOP: Health Systems Management: Financial & Economic Aspects (required 4 credit hours), Introduction to Pharmacy Entrepreneurship (elective 3 credit hours), and Introduction to Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research (elective 3 credit hours). He also currently serves as Assistant Director of the St. Louis College of Pharmacy Center for Health Outcomes Research and Education (SCORE)-since 2017. Current research interests include: health insurance, managed health care, pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs), health economics, pharmacoeconomics, specialty medications, value-based care, transitions of care, telemedicine, and medication errors. He is actively involved in several professional pharmacy organizations: International Society for Pharmacoeconomics & Outcomes Research (ISPOR), Missouri Pharmacy Association (MPA), American Pharmacists Association (APhA), and National Community Pharmacists Association (NCPA).
