Micael Alves (b. 12 October 1999) is a dedicated and forward-thinking professional whose academic and practical experiences bridge the realms of biomedical technology and management. He graduated with a Degree in Biomedical Technology from Instituto Politécnico de Setúbal (2017–2020), during which he completed a final project on “Electrocardiography and Electrodermal Activity Based on Biomedical Sensors Integrated into an Office Chair.” Following this, he was awarded a Scientific Research Initiation Grant at Instituto Superior Técnico (2020–2021), focusing on the analysis and processing of biochemical signals. While pursuing his PhD in Human Resource Management at Instituto Superior de Ciências Sociais e Políticas (ISCSP) since 2024, his doctoral research explores “The Relationships Between Emotions, Well-Being, and Performance in the Aerospace Sector: A Study in High-Demand Environments.” Between 2021 and 2024, Micael expanded his expertise into business and technology consultancy. He began as an Inside Sales Representative at Welink (2021) and quickly progressed to a Market Research and Team Leader role at Inodev, managing projects between Portugal and Mozambique. Concurrently, he completed a Master in Management at Universidade Lusófona (2021–2024), producing a dissertation entitled “Relationship between the Big Five, Leadership Skills, Employee Satisfaction and Extraordinary Effort.” From 2024 to 2025, he served as a Consultant at Instituto de Telecomunicações – Instituto Superior Técnico, and in early 2025 he joined HSpan Journey as a Project Manager, where he currently oversees various asset management initiatives. An optimist by nature with a continuous learning mindset, Micael is passionate about Psychology, Biology, Communication, Strategy and Leadership, Technology, Management and Entrepreneurship. He has presented at several conferences—including IEEE UBISYM 2019 (“BITalino Basics”), the XV National Meeting of Biomedical Engineering Students 2020, and Take Conference 2024—and holds a patent (No. 117127) for a device detecting and predicting burnout. His technical proficiencies include beginner-level Python, intermediate SQL, and two years’ experience with Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power BI and Power Automate). Fluent in Portuguese and holding a B2 level in English, he combines analytical rigour with creative problem-solving skills to drive innovation in both academic and professional settings.
