Dr. Helen Lee is the Chief Pharmacy Officer at California Department of Health Care Access and Information (HCAI). Dr. Lee has nineteen years of experience including phase I-II clinical trials, drug development, retail, inpatient and outpatient hospital, ambulatory care, PBM, specialty pharmacy, and Health Plan. She worked at VA, Kaiser, Oliveview UCLA Medical Center, Parexel, WellpointNext RX, Express Scripts, CVS/CareMark, Scan health plan, LA Care Health plan, Centene and Alameda Alliance for Health. She also taught at the University of Southern California School of Pharmacy. Dr. Lee completed her undergraduate at UCLA. She received her PharmD from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy in Boston. She completed her primary care double residency at VA Greater Los Angeles and USC School of Pharmacy. She also received her MBA from University of Laverne. She is a CHCF Health Care Leadership Fellow. She is a certified diversity executive too. Dr. Lee was featured in Medicaid expansion, Drug Topics in 2014 and was also featured on Specialty Pharmacy Continuum magazine in 2022. She has served at APhA-ASP, IPSF, AMCP, CPhA committees, was a National Disaster Medical System, Federal Emergency Management Agency member, and City of Alameda Vaccine Task Force. Dr. Lee is serving as a DHCS Global Medi-Cal Drug Use Review (DUR) Board member and Medi-Cal Contract Drug Advisory Committee (MCDAC) member. Dr. Lee is also CA Health Corps Disaster Healthcare volunteer. Dr. Lee is on a mission to improve heath equity, to enhance organizational development and to lead Health Care strategies and transformation.
