Chinese pharmaceutical company at 1991 Huaqing Road in the Qingpu district of Shanghai, founded in September 1998 and descended from the pharmaceutical factory of the Shanghai Institute of Chinese Materia Medica set up in June 1992, operating as a modern Chinese medicine and natural drug manufacturer within Shanghai Pharmaceutical Materials. Researches, manufactures and sells modern Chinese medicines and natural plant drugs, with ginkgo ketone ester and its preparations and artificial musk active ingredients marketed as Haikesu I and Haikesu II as its leading products, both recognised as Shanghai high technology achievement transformation projects. Artificial musk is a national class one traditional Chinese medicine new drug and won a first prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award, while ginkgo ketone ester is a class two Chinese medicine new drug and won a gold medal at the Geneva International Exhibition of Inventions awarded jointly by the Swiss federal, Geneva cantonal and Geneva city governments and the World Intellectual Property Organization.
