American public land grant research university at Moscow in northern Idaho, founded in 1889 and the state's land grant institution, with centres at Boise, Coeur d'Alene and Idaho Falls. Teaches through its College of Agricultural and Life Sciences with food science, animal and veterinary science and plant sciences, the College of Science with chemistry and biological sciences, and colleges of natural resources and engineering, runs an analytical sciences laboratory and the WWAMI medical education programme, and carries out research in food safety, natural resources and environmental chemistry.
