Chilean public university in Estación Central, Santiago, whose origins lie in the Escuela de Artes y Oficios of 1849 and the Universidad Técnica del Estado, taking its present name in 1981. Teaches chemistry and pharmacy through its Faculty of Chemistry and Biology with degrees in pharmaceutical chemistry and biochemistry, medicine, nursing, obstetrics and medical technology through its Faculty of Medical Sciences and chemical engineering and food engineering through its Faculty of Engineering and Technology, and carries out research in medicinal chemistry, natural products, food science and biotechnology with its own laboratories and analytical services.
