Chinese public university in Chengdu, Sichuan province, founded in 1896 as the Shanhaiguan Railway Engineering College and long known for railway and transport engineering, with campuses at Xipu, Jiuli and Emei. Runs a School of Materials Science and Engineering with a national key laboratory work on biomaterials and surface engineering of implants, a School of Life Science and Engineering covering biomedical engineering, biomaterials, regenerative medicine and medical imaging, and works with hospitals and manufacturers on device and materials development alongside its transport engineering research.
