Iranian public university in the Evin district of northern Tehran, founded in 1959 as the National University of Iran and renamed after Mohammad Beheshti following the revolution. Teaches through faculties of chemistry and petroleum sciences, life sciences and biotechnology, physics, mathematics, engineering and architecture and law and economics, and carries out research in organic and medicinal chemistry, nanotechnology, microbiology and biotechnology and food science with its own central laboratories and technology park.
