Italian public university in Rome, founded in 1303 by Pope Boniface VIII and one of the largest universities in Europe. Teaches through faculties of pharmacy and medicine, medicine and dentistry, medicine and psychology, mathematical, physical and natural sciences with chemistry and biology, and law, economics and the humanities, works with the Policlinico Umberto I and Sant'Andrea hospitals for clinical teaching, and carries out research in medicinal chemistry, pharmacology and toxicology, forensic and analytical toxicology and biomedical sciences with its own departments and laboratories.
