Indian state university in Patiala, Punjab, established in 1962 as only the second university in the world named after a language, created to develop Punjabi language, literature and culture alongside general higher education. Runs departments across sciences, engineering, medicine related disciplines, management, law and humanities and affiliates colleges in the region, with its Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Drug Research awarding Bachelor of Pharmacy, Master of Pharmacy and doctoral degrees and carrying out drug discovery and formulation research.
