Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences

Indian medical college at Sevagram in Wardha district of Maharashtra, founded in 1969 as the country's first rural medical college, run by the Kasturba Health Society with support from the central and state governments. Teaches the bachelor of medicine and surgery with postgraduate courses and a strong emphasis on rural and community health, runs the Kasturba Hospital as its teaching hospital with medical, surgical, maternity and paediatric services, and operates its own laboratories, blood bank and hospital pharmacy with community outreach programmes.
