Ukrainian public university in Kharkiv, founded in 1804 on the initiative of Vasyl Karazin and one of the oldest universities in the country. Teaches through schools of medicine, chemistry, biology, physics, ecology and computer science alongside the humanities, with a medical school whose students train in Kharkiv hospitals, and carries out research in organic and analytical chemistry, biochemistry, materials chemistry and biotechnology with its own research institutes and laboratories.
