deCODE Genetics (Iceland)

Icelandic human genetics company in Reykjavík, founded in 1996 by Kári Stefánsson and owned by Amgen since 2012. Uses population scale genetic and health data from Icelandic volunteers together with genealogy records to find variants that affect disease risk, publishes widely on the genetics of cardiovascular, metabolic, psychiatric and neurodegenerative disease and cancer, and applies its findings to drug target discovery and validation for its parent company and partners, running its own sequencing and genotyping facilities.
